Do you what the correlation between methane and vegetarianism are? We will you the answer in this article.
As we had promised in the last article, we will now write about methane and vegetarianism. Optimistically you will gain beneficial information about methane and vegetarianism through this article.

Methane – Point to focus

  • Methane is the most important greenhouse gas
  • Animal agriculture is the main source of methane
  • Methane is highly responsible for global warming as other non-carbon dioxide greenhouse gases put together in one pot
  • Compared to carbon dioxide, methane is approximately 23 times stronger
  • Since pre-industrial times, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide has risen around 31 percent. How methane? It is two times larger than carbon dioxide
  • Whereas human activities emit carbon dioxide to around three percent of natural emissions, human sources emit i.5 times as much methane as all natural sources.

As we can read from the points above, methane reduction is very compulsory and must be a priority.

Methane and animal agriculture
Points to focus:

  • In relation with animal agriculture, around 100 million tons of methane is made by animal agriculture yearly.
  • The number keeps arising due to the increase of global meat consumption in the last five decades.
  • The digestive processes of livestock produce around 85 percent of animal agricultural methane whilst a single cow releases quite small amount of methane.
  • The other 15 percent of animal agricultural methane are produced by the enormous “lagoons” used to keep untreated farm animal waste.

Conclusion
From the environmentalists’ perspective, the conclusion is simple, be a vegetarian. Being a vegetarian (or vegan) means to reduce or remove consumption of animal products. Being a vegetarian is possibly the best way to lessen the negative impacts of global warming.

Furthermore, being a vegetarian may eliminate one of the major sources of methane emissions, animal agriculture.
